This is the easiest healthy popsicle idea out there! These Easy Frozen Raspberry Kefir Popsicles satisfy the desire for a frozen treat and are an easy way to add stomach-friendly foods to your day.

These Easy Frozen Raspberry Kefir Popsicles are an easy way to improve gut health!

I could eat a popsicle or two every day! When it’s a frozen kefir pop there is no downside to snacking. You still get the health benefits of probiotics by freezing the kefir. In addition to that the raspberry kefir pops also provide a good source of protein.

These popsicles are not overly sweet. They taste just as the kefir does from the container. It’s best for gut health to not add sweeteners. However, if you do want them to be more sweet I recommend honey or simple syrup to your desired sweetness.

Why Use Kefir?

In this recipe, I used Lifeway Kefir because kefir has more probiotics than yogurt.  This means more gut health benefits per serving than using yogurt.  However, you can use yogurt and kefir interchangeably in this recipe.  You can always make your own kefir instead of using store-bought kefir if you prefer.

Here is a link to the benefits of kefir. This will help you to know why I use kefir instead of yogurt when possible.

I always have a few flavors of kefir in my refrigerator.  Peach because it is my favorite Lifeway Kefir flavor.  Vanilla because it is a versatile flavor, I can add it to granola bowls and smoothies and plain kefir. Plain because I often add it to mayonnaise-based salad dressings in place of milk to thin a salad dressing out.  I also always have plain kefir on hand to make my own custom-flavored kefir with whatever fruit is currently ripe on my property.  (Which would be mandarin in January to persimmon in November and December with many different fruit varieties in the months between January and December.)

For this recipe, I chose raspberry because the raspberries are in abundance in the garden right now.

Equipment:

Step by Step Instructions:

First, gather all the ingredients and the popsicle mold and sticks. (I have a few popsicle molds, but this is the best one I have ever used: Silicone Homemade Popsicle Maker.) Also, prepare a space in your freezer for the popsicle mold to stay until the popsicles freeze.

Place the popsicle mold on a sheet pan for easy transfer into the freezer.

Next, tear the raspberries into smaller pieces.

Then, distribute one-third of the raspberries in the popsicle mold.

Now, pour the raspberry kefir into the popsicle mold to about halfway full. (You can use a funnel or pour directly into the popsicle molds.)

Add another one-third of the torn raspberry pieces into the popsicle molds.

Then add the last one-third of the torn raspberry pieces into the popsicle molds.

Finish popsicles according to the mold directions: with the Silicone Homemade Popsicle Maker, you’ll place the included silicone cover on the mold and then insert the popsicle sticks.

Carry the sheet pan holding the popsicle mold to the freezer. Place both the sheet pan and mold in the freezer. This is to not spill trying to lift the popsicle mold off the sheet pan.

Freeze until frozen–about 6 to 8 hours.

Releasing frozen popsicles from the molds:

To release popsicles after frozen: take the mold out of the freezer then take off the silicone mold cover. Next, you use two hands to remove the popsicle from the mold. Both thumbs go on the opposite sides of the top of a popsicle and middle fingers and pointer fingers go underneath a popsicle. You push down on the sides of the mold with your thumbs while at the same time, you pop up the bottom of the popsicle with your fingers. Do this for each popsicle.

If you have hard plastic molds, find a container larger than the molds and fill the large container with warm water. (Warm water from the tap or the kettle heated to a warm setting.) Submerge the molds as deep as you can for a few seconds. Or you can carefully run the molds under warm water making sure not to allow any water to come in contact with the popsicle inside the mold.
